MY ARTWORK & Analysis:

Screen Shot 2016-01-25 at 1.56.15 PM.png bear_sketches.jpgNiima_mom.jpg

My work is heavily influenced by nature and the relationship between it, animals, and humans. My visual style is definitely a product of the shows, movies, and books I treasured as a child: Disney, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, Cartoon Network, Universal Studios, etc. (Some of my favorites were/are The Prince of Egypt, Mulan, Fox and the Hound, Pocahontas, Hey Arnold!, Hunger Games, The Land Before Time, Jurassic Park, Avatar: TLA, Brother Bear, and so many more.)

I think one of my strongest attributes is my line. It’s (usually) wispy, loose, and confident. I’m not the best renderer, nor do I particularly enjoy it as much as doing the drawings. I get bored and itchy to move onto the next project. I have a lot of ideas and energy, which sort of shows itself in my line style. I naturally lean towards curvilinear lines; things that are soft and friendly are appealing to me. I do struggle with composition and need to be more mindful of it. My taste in color–not surprisingly–is usually comprised of desaturated colors and neautral palettes. I’m usually not too fond of extreme contrast. My drawing style is usually stylized realism or cute and cartoony. I love positive illustrations, underdogs, and strong female heroes/role models, like Katniss.
